Warsaw Spire wins “Property Oscar”

Warsaw Spire, an office tower developed by Ghelamco Poland, was voted the best office project at this year’s MIPIM real estate exhibition in Cannes, France.

The only Polish submission for the MIPIM Awards 2017, the Warsaw Spire office tower is a flagship project by the Polish subsidiary of Ghelamco, a Belgian-based developer. Opened last year just west of Warsaw city center, the skyscraper beat competition from cities such as London and Rome. Ghelamco Group founder Paul Gheysens collected the main MIPIM prize for the Warsaw Spire at an awards ceremony in Cannes March 16.

The most prestigious event for the international real estate industry, the MIPIM exhibition has for 30 years brought together leading developers, contractors, investors, consultants and property market experts from around the world. They come to the French resort to share expertise, network and showcase their top projects.

Every year, the best new projects and designs compete for the event’s awards, and this year the most coveted of those went to Ghelamco Poland. The competition judges and MIPIM participants named the Warsaw Spire the Best Office & Business Development in the world, ahead of a total of 250 submissions from 44 countries.

Jeroen van der Toolen, the managing director at Ghelamco CEE, described the MIPIM Award 2017 for Ghelamco Poland as the “crowning achievement of the work put in the Warsaw Spire project by everyone involved” in it.

“I would very much like to thank all those who believed in our vision and invested their knowledge, time and hearts in the Warsaw Spire development,” van der Toolen said in Cannes. “The project has transformed Warsaw’s image and become a global symbol of new thinking about commercial construction.”

The 220-meter-tall skyscraper houses 109,000 square meters of office space, making it both the largest and tallest office building in Poland. The tower has redefined Warsaw’s cityscape, becoming an icon of its rapid growth. The building forms a whole with Plac Europejski (Europe Square), a new public space replacing a former industrial quarter.

Goldman Sachs takes top of Warsaw Spire

Investment bank Goldman Sachs is to relocate its Polish headquarters from Liberty Corner on ul. Mysia in Warsaw to the highest floor of the Warsaw Spire office tower, which is now close to completion.

The tenant has leased over 5,000 sqm of the main tower (building ‘A’) from the project’s developer Ghelamco Poland. The opening of the building, as well as the Plac Europejski square which forms part of the complex, has been scheduled for May this year.

The Warsaw Spire complex consists of the 180m high 'A' skyscraper two lower-storey buildings – 'B' and 'C' (55m high each). It will comprise an office area of over 100,000 sqm. The main tenants include Adecco Poland, Benefit Systems, Bilfinger HSG Facility Management, BNP Paribas Securities Services, Centrum Unijnych Projektów Transportowych, Daftcode, Frontex, Ghelamco Poland, JLL and Samsung.

Ghelamco selling Warsaw Spire

Commercial real estate developer Ghelamco will now look for buyers for building C of its flagship office complex Warsaw Spire, having just sold the B building for EUR 100 million, CEE managing director Jeroen van der Toolen said as cited by the daily Puls Biznesu.
As for the tower, Ghelamco mulls selling a part of it and remaining a co-owner. Both buildings as well as Ghelamco's other Warsaw projects, Wronia 31 and Woloska 24, will be presented to investors next week at the Real Expo Fair 2017 in Munich, van der Toolen also said.
The B building sale confirms investors' interest in office space near Rondo Daszynskiego in Warsaw and opens the door to further deals, according to Leon Ballard of the real estate consultancy JLL, Ghelamco's advisor in the transaction.

Kocham Warszawę - nowy, ogromny neon na 35. piętrze wieżowca Warsaw Spire

A huge colorful neon "Kocham Warszawę" (I Love Warsaw) has been mounted on the 35th floor of the Warsaw Spire skyscraper. 

A building, owned by Ghelamco, is being constructed between ul. Grzybowska and ul. Łucka. After completion it will be the second-tallest building in Warsaw.

The I love Warsaw project has been developed by Fundacja Sztuka w Mieście (Art in the City Foundation), set up by Ghelamco with an aim to create friendly urban space and promote cultural activities for Warsaw residents.

Ogień pojawił się na 17. piętrze budowy wieżowca. Zapaliła się papa. Nie ma informacji o osobach poszkodowanych.

Na miejsce przyjechało pięć zastępów straży pożarnej.

Wieżowiec jest inwestycją działającej od 20 lat na polskim rynku nieruchomości firmy Ghelamco Poland. Projekt wieżowca oraz przyległych budynków został stworzony przez belgijską pracownię architektoniczną Jaspers Eyers & Partners oraz biuro projektowe Bakkala.

Deweloperem jest belgijska firma Ghelamco. Kompleks ma zostać oddany do użytku częściowo w 2014 roku, całość w 2015. Obiekt będzie najwyższym budynkiem biurowym w Polsce.

Wieżowiec Warsaw Spire, realizowany przez Ghelamco, zwyciężył w kategorii Wybitny Projekt Architektoniczny Roku w Polsce, w konkursie Eurobuild Awards. Głosowanie odbyło się na żywo podczas oficjalnej gali Eurobuild w hotelu Hilton w Warszawie.

(En) The Warsaw Spire complex will be composed of three buildings: a 220-meter tower and two 55-meter buildings. Construction started in mid-2011. The complex has been designed by Belgian architectural practice M.&J-M Jaspers - J. Eyers & Partners according to BREEAM green building standards. It will provide around 100,000 sq m of office space and 1,200 underground parking spaces. The project is to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2013.
